Oh my these are wonderful. I especially love the first and third one. The middle one has a lot of really nice colors and i like the style! The first one is well defined and really sets a mood for your viewer. The third is so realistic i had to look twice to see that it was a painting. Great job!!
Ken: Your ability to define fluid lines using shapes & color is mastery! I am especially drawn to "Photographic Study" I love how the line of the road leads to the group of friends. That emphasis continues with the line of their interlocking arms as they head on down the road. And I especially love the use of the light purple for the background color that really brings out the warm tones used for the group of boys. Beautiful job!
I really like the atmosphere you have created with texture in these paintings. The depth of feeling could not have been achieved with solid fields of paint. The asymmetrical balance in the top portrait adds to the tension of the subject's expression and the tension lines in the neck and forehead. However, the positioning of the figures in the bottom piece is slightly to the left and makes it feel a bit off-center. If the taller child would have been on the right it would have helped trim the balance. Overall, I love your painterly brushstrokes and use of color. Well done!
