Emphasis and Shape: Painted Window: I love this type of image with all of the texture. Getting the sharpness right has added to the emphasis of the texture. White edges and gray edges draw the eye to the curling paint. The shape of the right door inset where the most white edges are draws the eye there and holds us. Then the greater shape of rectangle with peeling paint along bottom and the entire left side is a boundary that keeps us in the image. My eye moves from the right to the left and back to the right. It holds my attention and I keep finding more and more.
Mailboxes: For me the emphasis is on the mailbox doors and the text on them. The very slight diagonal of board that box sit on is nice and keeps me moving along the boxes and then back to the first green box. The different size, shape, height, angle, and color keep my interest to look and find more. Using the brown above and below as a nature frame really helps this image maintain emphasis on the boxes.
Hi Jeanette! Beautiful photographs! Through out every image you have great emphasis and shape. I love the emphasis you draw to the cat's eye, the green is beautiful and the whiskers lead you down to the nose and up to the eye. I also love the shapes on "Painted Window" the irregular peeling paint next to the uniform rectangular shapes. I also love the emphasis you placed on the green mailbox, leading your eye back and forth through the row of mail boxes. Great work!
I really enjoy the work "untitled". Its a very simple, yet complex photo. The nails provide a nice balance to the photo, along with all the lines provided by the grain of the wood, and where the knots are discolored provide interest to my eye. Good job in cropping in and providing an interesting point of view on wood.
The Painted Window clearly expresses texture. Paint is pealing and bare wood exposed letting the viewer feel the texture. The photo is also symmetrically balanced although shot at a slight angle.
