  1. In the interest of full disclosure, I am not familiar at all with the concepts and techniques of modern paintings. As a result, the following comments may not be germane or viable for consideration.

My favorite piece is "Portrait of Charles Mingus." The way you used the colors to define the facial features and clothes of the subject provides compelling depth and personality to the subject. The muted background, particularly the way its blends or melds into the facial features, clothes and hair on top of the head, further gives depth and interest to the subject. It makes me want to keep looking at this guy and figure out more about him. I also like the way the subject's facial features are offset a little; which again gives character and depth to the painting.

The piece I am struggling with is "Perfect Laundry." While the technique is interesting and the composition is nice, I am not "getting it." Who is this guy and what does he have to do with laundry?

  2. Your painting are very good, I get a sense of mystery from all of these. Your use of line and rhythm is apparent and the subject mater draws me in and makes me wonder, what are these guys thinking? Nice job.
