I really like your image of the Tubac Horse. The angles and how he looks like he's rearing up are really well balanced. What you did to the image really gave it good texture, it looks more like artwork than a photograph! Great Job
ReplyDeleteGreat pieces. The stark contrast of the trees, in the second image, set them right out and draws in the viewer. The same happens with the branches in the foreground of the first piece. The dark silhouette demands and draws attention from the rest of the subdued image.
ReplyDeleteTexture and Balance
ReplyDeleteJerome Junction Ruins:
With the rough edges on the image, I assume that you are going for an “Old Time” look. That being said, there are old time great photos and there are washed out old photos. There is lots of texture in this photo that is hidden. Upper limbs have some shown. Fence in background, stacked wood in middle and log in foreground all have texture that cannot be seen. The grass and weeds in field are a wealth of texture that again cannot be seen.
For balance there is the top limbs and the bottom log to frame the nothing that is middle. When you put texture into middle, then there will be balance.
Ruination at Manzanar:
The B&W needs a good black and a good white. This image has the stuff, but. The vignette cannot be the black. When the vignette is so overstated, it really does not have the right effect. The balance is black and white is between vignette and image. To get the beautiful texture of the trees, there needs to be a different balance. One option is to leave the trees and put dark mood into the sky.
Please get rid of starburst from sun and halo around trees.
There is a nice balance of having smaller trees flank main tree. But there is difficult balance when main tree touches top of image and right branch touches edge of image. Add more sky above and carefully cut right branch.
The first picture has a touch of color that is really nice, brings some interest into the composition. The old style effect is nice to. The second one is just perfect in perspective and the composition is simple, but perfectly set up. The clouds really bring texture into the piece without taking away from it. and the third piece , the perspective gives the picture alot of movement.
