Graphic Design: Illustrator

Circus Playing Cards

2012

Circus performers have always intrigued me, and where better to display such amusing characters and imagery than in a deck of playing cards. Designing the remaining fifty pieces continues to be a work in progress.

Book Jacket Design: The Anchovy Caper
Illustrator
9.5 x 6.5 x 1.5 inches
2012

The perfect assignment was designing the book jacket for my (yet unpublished) children's novel. It would be a dream for most any author to control the design of their book's artwork.

The Anchovy Caper follows the adventures of Olive and Bobis to an island in the British West Indies, where they accidentally stumble upon sunken treasure, only to find themselves up against the island's most fearsome foe.

CD Packaging: Science Project
InDesign & Illustrator
5 x 5 inches
2013

Edmund and Lilly wanted the packaging for their CD to reflect the essence of Science Project and their new material for Homo sapien. I designed a sleeve for the CD cover to simulate a jar of formaldehyde to house their specimen brain.

  3. Jamie, I have always enjoyed your work! Your fun use of clean layouts with a whimsical twist flows naturally for you. I enjoyed your CD packaging with the jar printed on clear acetate to simulate a brain in a jar when the sleeve is slipped over the packaging. Very creative!

  4. Great solid work. Your first piece is very unexpected and powerful. You explore themes at once classic and mundane, but are simply glorified. Exceptional color choices and balance compliment the sort of dignified humor of the subjects of the cards.

  5. Nice cards. Very clever thinking. The circus theme does fit perfectly with the brilliant and sometimes highly saturated colors of playing cards. The queen conveys the atmosphere of circus life perfectly.

  6. Your book cover leaves no doubt as to the genre of the novel. I enjoy that it visually shows a glimpse of the adventure ahead for children. It makes you want to read the book.
And your CD cover is creepy (the brain mostly.) but very fitting.
