Since most of my work is portraiture I don't really have titles for the images, although the first image has been manipulated into a art piece with a working title of blossoming.

  1. Karen,
I have always thought that your work was very good.

I want to preface the rest of my comment by saying that it is all from my male perspective. So read on and then forget the comment.

For me, Maternity shots are just another wonderful part of a family’s life. Blossoming shows the emotion that I would expect a woman to have. I think that she would feel bold, powerful, and almost omnipotent. For me, the others are too demure and submissive.

Now that I have stuck my foot into it, please forget everything.

  2. Thank you Doug, I always appreciate comments and others perspectives. I do not need to forget the comments, because I feel that as artist we can grow and develop our work by hearing what others think of our work. I do agree that some of the images may seem demure, but I find that while some women may feel powerful during pregnancy and want to portray that, others do not. Some women feel feminine for the first time in their lives, some feel sexy, and others just feel fat! I try to work with clients to bring out what they would like to convey, wether it focuses on how they feel about their changing body, or just hides their perceived flaws. The greatest complement I have ever recieved was from a woman who burst into tears upon viewing her images, saying she had never felt beautiful in whole life before, and that my images made her feel beautiful.

  3. I love the blossoming image, it is so serene and peaceful. The color in it is absolutely gorgeous and the way the fabric is proportioned is perfect. It kind of reminds me of the Birth of Venus. Beautiful piece of artwork!

I love the solid black background in the second picture and the lighting effect where you can just see a little color in the tattoos! The way you've proportioned the image gives it a very dramatic effect!

  4. Karen, the continuity in tones and color in the Blossoming image is excellent. I am reminded of the ocean or more specifically a sea horse. This is a pure woman and you captured that fact beautifully
